Dear parents and players:
We would like to congratulate all of our players and parents on behalf of West Valley Water Polo for a great summer season! We had five teams (18U Boys A, 16U Boys, 12U Boys, 16U Girls and 14U Girls) qualified for and played in the championship divisions of the Junior Olympics while we also had three other teams (18U Boys B, 18U Girls and 16U Girls B) participate in the classic divisions!
16U Girls B-Team just formed a couple weeks prior to Junior Olympic. Each player and coach had gained a multitude of experience through playing in numerous tough games as well as placing in the classic division of Junior Olympics. Although they are still a premature team, we can already see them progressing and developing together as a team. As they played more games, win or lose, their cohesiveness and sportsmanship were evidently and clearly presented through their performance. Aside from the great potential we've developed this year, we would also like to greatly acknowledge the drastic improvement of the 12U Boys Team: Starting as the underdogs of Junior Olympics, nearly bottom of the pack, the boys overcame and handled the adversity in placing 15th within the Gold Championship division! Through great leadership, hard work, commitment, patience and most importantly, the wonderful parents support, we saw the work literally pay off!
On a more unfortunate note, we are disheartened by the fact that our 14U Boys Team did not qualify for Junior Olympics this year. However, we are very hopeful for the future, hopeful in that through even more diligence and discipline, we may find a spot in the Junior Olympic tournaments following. Because the 14U age group overall is still a developing age group, we are working with different structures and strategies in order to optimize their water polo experience and potential.
West Valley fall water polo program will start on Sunday, August 17. We will have two sites, Mountain View High and Los Gatos High, for the fall. Flyers and Registration forms can be found under the "registration" tab.
See you all next Sunday!
